Search Recipes on Bing

bing search

Interested in cooking? With the Bing search engine from Microsoft you can now also search for recipes. Microsoft has added a new special feature to search recipes.

bing recipes search

Bing search now pulls information from a number of popular recipe websites, including Delish.com, to make it easy for customers to find the recipes they’re looking for. And because Bing is more than just a search engine, the Bing Recipe feature gives customers a way to sift the recipes (pun intended), so that they can actually find one that will work for their family, and find it fast enough to actually prepare for the night’s meal.

For example:

Try searching for ‘Paneer Recipes’ appear on the right one option Paneer recipes. Clicking this takes you to a page with recipes including from relish.com, MyRecipes.com and epicurious.com. Each recipe source will have the valuation of users +plus the number of calories and fat content. On the left hand side of the page, you could also find several filtering options.

Here is a video:

Do you have any new bing features to tell us? post them in the comments below!

Google easter egg

Like me, I’m sure many of you folks also use Google Reader for managing and reading RSS feeds.

Here’s a little “surprise” in your Google reader, by typing the following combination of keys known as the Konami Code…

Hint: The key combination that will invoke the secret Ninja mode in Google Reader is Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A. You would see a Ninja on the left hand navigation and a heart near the Like button in the Google reader!

Isn’t it Funny?

Here is a quick video from Google Webmaster:

Facebook now playing emotional games – we will miss you

by teamgpt
written by teamgpt
Facebook has over 250 million members, with 50 million of them registering for the social site in past 90 days, ever wondered what their secret is to retaining members?Do you think people stay on Facebook so they can continue to share photos and updates with their friends, connect with their favorite brands, or get clued in to the latest events or to get poked? Maybe, but the real secret to why you keep your Facebook is because Facebook plays with your emotions and guilts you into staying on longer.

When I tried to deactivate the Facebook account, it takes you to a page where Facebook prominently displays photos of five of your friends, and shows a message, “Are you sure you want to deactivate your account, [friend name] will miss you.” …. i was just curious and hit the refresh(f5) key and guess what came up? it repopulates people randomly from your friend list.

Huh… what were you thinking Facebook? :) But nice try I should say… What do you think? Post you comments below!!

China now targets online games – No more mafia type games

by teamgpt
written by teamgpt
law-no-more-gamesSometime ago Google and wordpress were being blocked by the great firewall of china and now its the online games that is on the hit list. The new york times reports that china is now targeting online games.

Online games are hugely profitable in China. In 2008, the industry brought in revenues of 18 billion renminbi, or about $2.64 billion, a 77 percent increase over the year before, according to an association of Chinese gaming companies. The Ministry of Culture issued a notice banning online games that feature Mafioso kingpins, marauding street gangs or any sort of hooliganism predisposed to organization.

It also states that “Severe punishment” for violators but fails to specify the penalties, also prohibits Web sites from including links to Internet games that glorify organized crime.

Such games, the ministry said, “embody antisocial behavior like killing, beating, looting and raping,” and their availability “gravely threatens and distorts the social order and moral standards, easily putting young people under harmful influence.”

By Tuesday, a number of popular games, including “Godfather,” “Gangster” and “Mafioso Hitman,” had been excised from the ether, although scores of other violence-laden games were still available.

Its not entirely surprising, given the government’s war against Internet pornography and other sites that can be construed as “socially disruptive.” This year more than a thousand Web sites have been shut down for “vulgar” content.

Other efforts to control the Internet have been not so successful. In June, China issued an edict that would have required all new computers sold domestically to include filtering software, known as Green Dam Youth Escort. The government insisted that the program would only affect pornography, but critics suggested that it could also be used to block political Web sites. The government bowed to pressure from computer manufacturers and users and postponed the new rules this month. It is unclear whether the ban on Mafia-themed computer games will similarly stoke the fury of China’s 200 million online gamers, although some of those who work in the industry did not seem to be too concerned.

Plaxo and Facebook are in open relationship – Plaxo adds new features to sync status and feeds with Facebook!

by teamgpt
written by teamgpt

Plaxo being a social aggregator now adds Facebook connect …. Now you can connect with people in Plaxo automatically who are your Facebook friends – Sigh, no more duplicate connections. What’s more, you get to share all the information from your Facebook wall stories (like photos, links, and videos) with your Plaxo friends easily. Keep your Facebook status updated when ever you change the status on Plaxo or vice-versa.
facebook-plaxo-connect

Quick snap of what’s gonna happen if you add Facebook connect in Plaxo:

Automatically connect with your Facebook friends who already use Plaxo
Share your Facebook Wall Stories (like photos, links, and videos) with your Plaxo friends
Keep your Plaxo and Facebook status in sync

Now, you can feed the content you’re sharing on Facebook (such as photos, videos, links, and events) over to Plaxo for sharing to your friends here. In addition, you can sync your status updates between the two services (in either or both directions). And, when you share a link or post a review in Plaxo, you can also share it over to your friends on Facebook.

“We believe this is an historic day, one that marks the beginning of a new era for the Internet, characterized by an open and interoperable Social Web” says Plaxo chief architect Joseph Smarr and VP marketting John McCrea..

Sounds cool, where do I start?…. Go to http://www.plaxo.com/settings/facebook and click on the connect button. You would need to sign in to your Facebook account and grant permission that you want to add Plaxo application on Facebook. Now make sure what you want to share (Status, photos etc..) and whom you want to share it with (Business, family & friends or a group in Plaxo) :)…. Once you have done that you’re all good – Hola you’re done!

Plaxo could add the ability to sign up and sign in to Plaxo via Facebook Connect. Hope, Plaxo will continue to collaborate with Facebook add more features :)… and we’ll need wait and watch what’s coming up next :D.

Smart links in mobile version of Gmail

by teamgpt
written by teamgpt

Google now automatically uses shortened links in the mobile version of Gmail. Longer links are now automatically reduced and converted to readable links, which Google called Smart Links. Thus, for example, a link to Google Maps into a link with the actual address as under the permalink in the screenshot. The link still takes you to the same page, however this is a lot shorter, useful on a mobile phone and the information is immediately visible.

long link

short link

Here’s a list of links Google currently support:

  • Google Maps address queries
  • Google Maps directional queries (with one destination)
  • Google Sites webpages
  • YouTube videos

In the future, more services could be added; such as Google Docs.
