Beware, Michael Jackson email virus is on the prowl!!

by teamgpt July 9, 2003
written by teamgpt

Some people misused Michael jacksons death for spreading Virus and Malwares!! Computer security firm Sophos issued a warning about an internet virus transmitted from a mass email claiming to contain secret songs and photos of Michael Jackson.

The email comes with the subject “Remembering Michael Jackson” and is sent from “sarah@michaeljackson.com”, Sophos said. It tells recipients that an attached file titled “Michael songs and pictures.zip” contains secret songs and photos of the pop music icon, who died of a heart attack in the US on June 25. Sophos warned computer users not to open the attachment. “By opening the attachment, computer users are exposed to infection. Once infected, a computer will begin automatically spreading the worm onto other internet users,” reported Sophos.

Stay safe and protect your computer by downloading the Google Pack.

google local business

Google is now offering a reporting dashboard for Google Local Business Center. Learn how people find
your business. Its all about helping customers find you on Google and it’s free.

google local listings

So if you’re a business owner who maintains one or more physical locations, and you’re curious about what people are searching for when they see your business listing and where your customers are coming from, the dashboard will answer many of those questions for you.

Data available in the dashboard will include the following:

* Impressions: The number of times the business listing appeared as a result on a Google.com search or Google Maps search in a given period.

* Actions: The number of times people interacted with the listing; for example, the number of times they clicked through to the business’ website or requested driving directions to the business.

* Top search queries: Which queries led customers to the business listing; for example, are they finding the listing for a cafe by searching for “tea” or “coffee”?

* Zip codes – where driving directions come from: Which zip codes customers are coming from when they request directions to your location.

And guess what… its free! Use the Local Business Center to create your free listing. When potential customers search Maps for local information, they’ll find your business: your address, hours of operation, even coupons to print out and bring to your shop. It’s easy, free, and you don’t need a website of your own.

Interested? Goto http://www.google.com/lbc now!

Watch a quick video tour on how this Google Local Business Center works:

Remove People You Follow from Google Reader (Social Feature)

by teamgpt May 10, 2003
written by teamgpt

Google Operating System Blog has published a hack to remove the social component of Google Reader from the Web, doing so in order to use it only to read their RSS feeds without the “intrusion” by our friends.

All you have to do after opening Google Reader, is to paste the text into the address bar

javascript:antisocial('true')

, and then press enter. This will automatically refresh the page and make the ‘People you follow’ (Social Reader feature) disappear..

The setting is then saved in our Google account, to restore the social part just follow the exact same procedure described above, copying the text

javascript:antisocial('false').

Above you can see both the screenshots of how it looks afer the script is run and before the script!

Dont freak out, Gmail is an year older – turns five today!

gmail birthday

It was five years ago yesterday that Gmail launched by giving out a gig. Back then, a typical webmail account could only store about five megabytes of mail. It’s hard to remember what those days were like, considering that today, you can send a single 20 megabyte attachment, four times the size of an entire webmail account from 2004. A gigabyte of online storage may have been what got a lot of people to give Gmail a try, but changes to the email experience — like search, labels, conversation view, and strong spam protection — seem to be what kept people around.

gmail turns 5

With all the new April fool’s bash of fooling people around and creating hoaxes, Google sure seemed to celebrate the birthday very well…. :P

April fools joke: Introducing auto Red eye in Picasa

by teamgpt April 9, 2003
written by teamgpt

picasa red eye

Red Eye on images like nothing else. Google now has a new version of Picasa incorporated, just the opposite. Instead of the natural eye color black in Picasa 4.1 it automatically changes the eye color to RED :) and unfortunately this is only accessible through proxy!
