- More control over ads
- Allow and block showing ads
- Something much similar to Google Analytics.
Google also says that it would be sending in beta testing invites to collect more feedback for thousands of users in the coming weeks.

After a five and a half year fight, Google and its attorneys have managed to convince federal bureaucrats to bestow a patent on the company’s iconic home page. We always thought the page was brain-dead simple, but apparently it’s an innovative “graphical user interface (GUI).”..
While other search engines turned into portals (for example altavista), Google’s homepage didn’t change that much over time. In 2004, Google filed a patent for google.com’s design and 5 years later the patent has been granted.
It’s not clear how the company, already under scrutiny from antitrust regulators, will wield the patent against competitors. The Yahoo Search page, depicted at left, bears a striking resemblance to Google.com, while Microsoft’s Bing, which features a photo and several headlines, is more distinct.

The Google doodle on Saturday, September 5th, has a weird flying saucer, UFO of some kind. It links to a search result for unexplained phenomenon and no one really knows what it is about.
Most of the doodles were previously either to people, national holidays, special events or other holidays. In the past it has been often a “puzzling” phenomenon. Often these were brought in connection with aliens. Most also lack a meaningful explanation.
Google tweets, and also shares a picture about the same on twitter:

Google Adsense has extended “category filtering” beta to publishers in a number of English-speaking countries. Category filtering lets you prevent ads from up to 5 specific categories such as religion, politics, and dating from appearing on your pages.
In addition, you’ll be able to see the percentage that each category contributes to your earnings, which can help you understand any revenue impact you might notice as a result of filtering. To see whether category filtering has been enabled for your location, sign in and visit the Ad Review Center, located under the ‘AdSense Setup’ tab.
Additional uses that you get:
– Ad impression impact to give you a better sense of how many ads you’d be filtering.
– Ad impression and earnings percentages are now calculated based on impressions from the previous 30 days instead of three.
-Category descriptions help you understand the types of ads that may fall into each.
