Twitter does some turbo upgrades to the site

by teamgpt March 9, 2008
written by teamgpt

With all the Facebook news, it appears that Twitter would also make some changes :) and upgrades….

Now you would be able to see twitter search directly at the top of the profile pages….. Along with the ability to see trends via a drop down menu
And the best part of the search is, twitter delivers a match users section which is highlighted according to the search keywords and sorting them by the most followers…. this could be a great way to obtain new followers!

They have also added a featured user section which simply highlights what appears to be top twitter users in the system….

Watch a screencast of the new features:

This new features have been rolled out only to some users and not all of them… we need to wait and watch when they would upgrade all accounts or they might even pull the plug if it doesn’t workout :D

FU*K iPad, new iTablet NOT from Apple

by teamgpt February 10, 2008
written by teamgpt

For over a year, analysts thought the Apple Tablet (IPAD) would be called “iTablet”. As we all know that didn’t seem to happen with Apple and the name iPad came into existence, with lots of funny critiques around it.

A British company, X2 is now selling its product called iTablet with some components that were NOT posted with the Apple device including a Windows operating system or Linux.

X2 now called as the iTablet, has 2 models with capacitive and multitouch screen features and is of size of 10.2 or 12.1 inches with a resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels.

itablet

It is powered by a microprocessor at 1.6 GHz Pentium M, 250-Gbyte hard drive, 1.3 megapixel webcam, stereo speakers, three USB ports and Wi-Fi connectivity, HDMI and 3G (the latter two optional).

You can get pre-install Windows operating systems like Windows7, Windows XP under the GNU / Linux distribution.

Although iTablet beats iPad in all apple aspects, it lacks the compact and sleek nature of the iPad.
The iTablet weighs about 1.18 pounds and is three times thicker than the iPad which together with its hardware penalized autonomy.

This certainly is in the list of competitors for the iPad and the future models of tablet PC’s from HP, ASUS or MSI that will come in the upcoming months.

Download Torrent Files Without Torrent Application

by teamgpt February 10, 2008
written by teamgpt

Although it is hard to believe, there are still many people who cannot properly use the software to download torrent files. Thanks to Torrent2Exe we share with our friends BitTorrent files that not even want without having to install any software. Through its web we can make the whole process and obtain the required executable file that will allow us to turn unload the file you’ve specified through the BitTorrent protocol.

Here is how it works:

What it does is convert torrent files into executable files for Windows. “Exe”. After that you can download it directly from the web without needing to install any other software. This means that anyone can create an EXE file from a torrent, send it by mail and download it from another computer without requiring any additional software for it.

How to convert to an EXE format?

* Select the URL of the torrent file or select it from your hard drive.

* Select if you want “small size” or “normal size”. The file is created by choosing “small size” will have a smaller size but they required some extra components to download the first time it runs. The file created with “normal size” offers a larger size but it has all the necessary components incorporated.

* Click Start Download to get the EXE.

* Run the EXE to download files.

* Once you’ve completed the download you can spread the file, leaving open the program. That way other users will have opportunity to download the same file.

Sony goes Green – New Recycled Laptop Series

by teamgpt January 10, 2008
written by teamgpt

vaio recycled series

Sony showcased its new Vaio notebooks at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) at Stan Glasgow in United States,

Here’s a look at the new laptop series:

*Eco-friendly W series Mini: No, its not a NetBook though that’s pretty much what it is. The angle is that the green-tinted (we get the hint) plastic enclosure is made of 23 percent recycled CDs (from overstocked Sony artists?), and that the carrying case is made of recycled plastic bottles. The 10-inch screen is LED-lit which runs Windows 7 Starter edition.

*Lightweight Z series: An ultra-portable laptop by Sony, the laptop is covered by an aluminum case and weighs about 3 pounds and is shipped exclusively with solid-state drives, up to a 512-gb model. It starts at $1,900 and can go way higher up (a Blu-ray player is optional, as are Intel Core i7 and i5 processors).

* F series: The latest entry in the multimedia entertainment portable space, the F has a just-right-for-movies 16.4-inch screen and likes to stay at home on a desk.

* Y series: This is the semi-lightweight (about 4 pounds) MacBook fighter that delivers up to seven hours of battery life and incorporates a 13-inch screen. Prices start at about $800.

Now that’s what we call re-cycling :) Have you tried it yet?

Google Doodle: Barcode

by teamgpt October 9, 2007
written by teamgpt

google doodle barcode

Another day, another Google Logo (or “Google Doodle,”). Today’s is a simple and straight up bar code that celebrates the 57th anniversary of the bar code’s patent on October 7, 1952.

A barcode is an optical machine-readable representation of data. Originally, barcodes represented data in the widths (lines) and the spacings of parallel lines, and may be referred to as linear or 1D (1 dimensional) barcodes or symbologies. They also come in patterns of squares, dots, hexagons and other geometric patterns within images termed 2D (2 dimensional) matrix codes or symbologies. Although 2D systems use symbols other than bars, they are generally referred to as barcodes as well.

Alert – Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo and AOL Accounts Compromised too

by teamgpt October 9, 2007
written by teamgpt

gmail, yahoo, hotmail

It was revealed that 10,000+ Hotmail accounts were compromised and all of the usernames and passwords of these accounts were posted online. It was a major security and scam issue, but it was thought to only affect Hotmail users.

Unfortunately, Hotmail was only the beginning. Google has now confirmed that thousands of Gmail accounts were compromised by an “industry-wide phishing scheme.” According to the BBC, the login data of over 30,000 Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Comcast, and Earthlink accounts have been posted online.

Phishing attacks are designed to steal your password. Here are the signs that it’s not real:

1. Google, Yahoo or Microsoft won’t ask you for your password in an email. No legitimate company will. Ever. Don’t give your password to anyone via email.
2. Even if it contained a link to a Google, Hotmail, Yahoo-looking site that asked for your password, I would be skeptical. There are some phishing sites that look very convincing.
3. It doesn’t make sense. Google, Yahoo, AOL or Microsoft has a ton of data storage capacity, they won’t be running out of space or asking your password.
