More improved features in the Search-based Keyword Tool

Search-based Keyword Tool

At the end of last year, Google announced the launch of the new Search-based Keyword Tool. This tool examines the content of your website and matches it against actual Google search queries, providing you with a list of highly relevant, actively-searched keywords. Since the launch, the tool is now available in Australia, Canada, China, Japan, and New Zealand. Additionally, on the Settings page, you are now able to select the currency for which you’d like to see suggested bids.

Search-based Keyword Tool (SBKT) helps you by giving ideas:

  • Based on actual Google search queries
  • Matched to specific pages of your website with your ad and search share
  • New to your Adwords account (typically excluding keywords matching those already in your account)

Google has also added new features to enable greater customization and help you get even more targeted results, some of the newest added features are:

  • Language/Country-specific results: Narrow your results by adjusting your country/territory and language settings. For example, you can use this if you only want to have the tool match your website against searches from Canada or Australia.
  • Ad/Search Share filters: Filter by Ad Share and Search Share, in addition to the other advanced filtering options. These filters help you customize your results to focus on queries where you’re not showing up in the natural search-results.

If you haven’t tried the tool yet, go to http://www.google.com/sktool…

China now blocks Google Hong Kong

by teamgpt March 10, 2011
written by teamgpt

The Chinese government started blocking content deemed offensive from the Google search for Hong Kong domain too. Google Hong Kong is the place where the U.S. Company is redirecting traffic from the Google China domain (Google.cn) from late afternoon, yesterday.

google china

According to the New York Times, Chinese users faced the great firewall of china while navigating through the search engine since; often results with certain results were blocked.

We hear from close sources that the authorities in China are angry with trying to circumvent Google’s censorship requests to transfer the domain. “Ch” for “. Hk”.

In the morning, an official at the Information Office of the State Council of China said publicly that Google had violated a “promise in writing” and is “completely wrong” to put an end to censorship of the Chinese pages. The Chinese envoy also hinted that there will be a greater return against Google, which should entertain the competition for online searches in the country.

According to Google, the decision to redirect the traffic was the brainchild of American executives, without any influence of the United States government.

David Drummond, senior vice president of Google, said yesterday that part of the operations research and development company in China will continue to maintain a presence marketable in the country.

Google’s list of the top 10 competitors; Apple NOT listed

by teamgpt March 10, 2011
written by teamgpt

In filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Form 10-K, Google lists 10 major competitors – Microsoft and Yahoo topped the competitors list. However Apple seems to be left out.

In 2008 & 2009, Google only listed two major competitors – Microsoft and Yahoo. And now in 2010, Google lists 10 major competitors starting from Microsoft, Yahoo on top of the list. This is not surprising, BUT the surprise is that, Apple actually was not listed on the chart.

Here is a list of ‘Top 10 Google competitors’:

1. Microsoft will be (Bing)
2. Yahoo
3. Amazon
4. EBay
5. Twitter
6. Facebook
7. Yelp (Business Review website)
8. Monster.com (Human Resources \ Job site)
9. WebMD (medical information site)
10. Kayak (travel website)

I wonder whats going on between Google & Apple :)

Google still stronger in China

by teamgpt March 10, 2011
written by teamgpt

According the reports from Statcounter.com, yesterday google.co.hk (the Google domain for Hong Kong)  had an all time high number of page visits.

google.com.hk vs baidu

The two curves represent the growing competition between search engines – Baidu, Yahoo, Bing and Google. While search engines like yahoo, bing, ask etc stand on something above 0 to 0.3% of the traffic source, Google and Baidu stand above 45% of the traffic graph.

After the update of Google moving from China (Google.cn) to Google Hong Kong (google.com.hk) Google traffic reached an all time high which crossed the Baidu traffic.

I’m sure, no matter what happens in China, People still love Google and will find more ways to use it!

New features in Google Insights Search

google insights

With Google Insights for Search, you can compare search volume patterns across specific regions, categories, time frames and properties. Today, Google is launching additional features that will provide more granular data in Google insights, so people can make better informed advertising decisions.

  • New data sources – We’ve added additional data from Google News, Image and Product Search sites so you can see what the world is searching for beyond Google Web Search. For example, retailers could use the Product Search filter to get a better understanding of what people are more likely to buy, and then stock the appropriate products.
  • Category suggestions – Ever wonder what other categories your search terms might be classified under? Insights for Search now suggests category breakdowns for your terms. For example, if you type in the search term “apple“, Insights for Search will show you all the relevant categories searches are classified under such as Computers & Electronics, Entertainment, and Food & Drink.
  • Metros for the U.S. – You can now drill down to specific geographic regions, or metros, to see how search interest levels vary. This can help you with geo-targeting in your AdWords campaigns.

And with Google insights, you can search and know what the world is searching for!

written by teamgpt
Google docs

Insert Drawing, a new feature in Google Docs. Now you can create and insert rich, colorful drawings into documents, presentations and spreadsheets, to illustrate your ideas or just for fun.

It’s easy to create drawings using lines, free hand scribbles, text labels and a large choice of shapes that you can move, resize, rotate and adjust. Group, order, align and distribute and other features are available when you select objects you’ve drawn. You can also customize a range of shape properties, from line widths to fill color, and from arrowheads to font size, and much more. If you change your mind, there is undo and redo. You can collaborate with a friend or colleague on a drawing, or work alone, just as you can in Google Docs today.

The team and technology behind Insert Drawing originally came from the startup Tonic Systems, which Google acquired in 2007…. You’ll find Drawing within the Insert menu, so try it out.
