Google Doodles: Halloween – Trick or treat?

by teamgpt October 9, 2011
written by teamgpt

Google this time had 4 Halloween doodle’s instead of one. Halloween (more traditionally spelled Hallowe’en) is an annual holiday celebrated on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and gets its name from being the eve of the Western Christian holy day of All Saints (the Eastern Orthodox celebrate All Saints Day in June). It is largely a secular celebration but some have expressed strong feelings about perceived religious overtones.

The colours black and orange have become associated with the celebrations, perhaps because of the darkness of night and the colour of fire or of pumpkins, and maybe because of the vivid contrast this presents for merchandising. Another association is with the jack-o’-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, ghost tours, bonfires, visiting haunted attractions, pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films.

Personal Blogging Tips to stay safe online and blog happily ever after!

by teamgpt October 9, 2011
written by teamgpt
Do you blog for fun? do you blog about that hot guy\gal that you saw in the mall lately? or do you blog about how nice that cake that you made recently was? Here are some blogging tips that could help you blog better and stay safe online!

• Avoid postings that could enable a stranger to locate you. That includes your last name, the name of
your school or sports teams, the town you live in and where you hang out.
personal blogging safety tips
• Check to see if your blogging service has a “friends” list that allows you to control who can visit your
blog. If so, be sure to allow only people you know and trust. Be very careful before adding strangers to
your list and be extremely careful about the information you post that can be accessed by people
outside your friends list.

• Avoid getting together with someone you “meet” through a blog unless you are certain of their actual
identity. If you do meet them, arrange the meeting in a public place and bring some friends along.

• Be very careful about photographs you put on your blog. It’s best to avoid photos that can make it easy
for people to recognize you. It’s a very bad idea to post photos that are suggestive or sexual in nature. Before uploading a photo, ask how you would feel if that picture were seen by your parents, a college
admissions counselor, a potential employer, a future boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse or, perhaps, your
grandparents. What if you were to run for office someday? What you post on the Internet can be
downloaded by others and can hang around forever.

• Avoid postings that could embarrass you, your friends or family members now or later. Remember,
what you post on your blog can be copied and stored and could come back to haunt you years later.

• If you allow non-friends or strangers to post comments to your blog, check the comments regularly to
make sure they’re appropriate and, if not, remove them. Also, always make sure the comments are moderated and never allow messages that are mean, threatening or embarrassing to you or others. Never respond to such messages either. Just delete them and, if possible, block that person from visiting your blog.

How long have you been blogging? what are the common issues you face online? let us know by posting your comments below!

Twitter fixes: Deleted Tweets? They’re gone for sure now!

by teamgpt October 9, 2011
written by teamgpt

twitter logo

Usually when you tweet a status and delete it, it wasn’t deleted completely from twitter before. But lately twitter engineers are working on making the twitter.com site more perfect, so they’ve now fixed the issue and if you delete a tweet it gets deleted from all search indexes too. This also applies for the applications using the twitter API.

Now that twitter results are being integrated to Bing, Google searches, its really important to add \ remove the information as quickly as possible..

After clicking ‘ Next‘, Google will automatically create a zip of all files. This process might take several minutes, depending on the number of documents you’ve stored in Google Docs. If you don’t want to wait untill the zipping process is complete, you can simply click on send to mail and it’ll automatically send all the zipped file via email..
