India comes up with a Google earth rival called Bhuvan

by teamgpt August 9, 2019
written by teamgpt

Google Earth‘s Indian rival is here! Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) took a huge leap into satellite imagery of geographical regions with the launch of `Bhuvan’, India’s mapping application website. Similar to Google Earth or Wikimapia, Bhuvan goes a step ahead. The application allows users to zoom far closer than the aerial view from a chopper.

Here’s is an inside look into Google Earth’s Indian competitor.
Bhuvan is a web-based 3D mapping tool which uses images taken over a year by ISRO’s seven remote sensing satellites, including Cartosat-1 and Cartosat-2.

The application will allow users to have a closer look at any part of the subcontinent barring sensitive locations such as military and nuclear installations. The satellites can capture images of objects as small as a car on a road.

bhuvan screenshot

This would provide a user with images having resolution up to 10 m. The degree of resolution showcased is based on points of interest and popularity, but most of the Indian terrain is covered upto at least six meters of resolution with the least spatial resolution being 55 meters.

Like Google Earth, Bhuvan will allow users to view cities and other places of interest looking perpendicularly down or at an oblique angle, with different perspectives.

Features:
– Provides Measurement tools for Horizontal distance, aerial distance and vertical distance
– Provides Shadow Analysis; sets the sun position based on the given time creating shadows and effects the lighting on the terrain
– 2D and 3D image data of Indian Cities, Towns and Villages with information on Soil, wasteland and water resources.
– Bookmark places.
– Population and other factual data about places.

The link to the official website is : http://bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in/

We need to wait and see if it can score higher than Google earth. :)

Google Stops Nexus One Sale Online

by teamgpt May 10, 2019
written by teamgpt

Google made its first steps into the smartphone market with the Nexus One phone launched on January 5.

To sell this phone, the company had decided to use its own online store in the United States. The service will now pause, to make way for traditional retailers as is the case in Europe.

In the US, if you’ve been waiting for the Nexus One for Verizon Wireless’ network, head over to http://phones.verizonwireless.com/htc/incredible to pre-order the Droid Incredible by HTC, a powerful new Android phone and a cousin of the Nexus One that is similarly feature-packed.

The company did not indicate how many of Nexus One phones had been sold since the release of the device in the U.S., but acknowledged that only geeks had used its online store to purchase the product, which proposed unit price reduced with a fixed operator T-Mobile, with or without reducing network compatibility AT & T and T-Mobile.

“It is clear that many consumers want to touch before buying a phone they want and also choose from a wide range of packages,” said the engineer Andy Rubin, the official blog of the group.

Switch to IPv6, IPv4 is Running Out Soon!

by teamgpt May 10, 2019
written by teamgpt

BBC reports, IPv4 address depletion has been raising for several years and finally, a detailed figure of WHEN exactly is out. So far only about 300million IPv4 addresses are available and according to the current rate the end of IPv4 would be on September 9, 2011, and all the IPv4 addresses would be used up.

In less than 18 months there will be no more big blocks of net addresses to give out, estimates suggest.

Reported that the rapid growth of mobile devices is the main reason for depletion of IPv4 addresses, this problem has come faster than expected. You can get in touch with your Internet service provider and ask the settings to enable IPv6.

The only way to solve this problem is to switch to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), which provides more addresses.
