Internet explorer v8.0 launched and so is Google chrome v2.0, competition for the best browser begins

by teamgpt March 9, 2020
written by teamgpt
A newer version of Google chrome and internet explorer are available..

Internet explorer 8

You may have noticed that day 2 at MIX was IE8 day (compared to the Silverlight 3 day one) in that the IE8 puppy launched!

This is good news in that IE 8 is better than IE 7, which is better than IE 6. Maybe, with 6 being two versions back, we have more weight to get rid of the chap. However, even though Microsoft has recently claimed that IE 8 is the fastest browser, its legacy weight still shows for now, and the other browsers are sprinting ahead. I have a sneaky suspicion that IE 9 is going to be different and a lot  for sure ( That my assumption too :) )

With Google chrome 2 beta being launched last week and now IE8, Google still seems to fight to see who’s the best :), let’s install both chrome and Internet explorer to see which rocks!

So, thanks for the better browser guys, and we can’t wait to see what happens next. Shortly we will have IE 8, Firefox 3.5, Safari 4, Chrome 2, Opera 10, and others….. And the Web will have nicer cars to drive around on it :) ….

New in Gmail Labs: Undo send, grab the message before it’s sent and take you right back to compose.

Gmail labs

Google in october 2008 announced a new Gmail labs feature, which said “Stop sending mail you would later regret“….. and now they are back with another fantastic feature, something similar to the previous one!

Many people agreed, including Yuzo Fujishima, an engineer in the Tokyo office. My theory (which others shared) was that even just five seconds would be enough time to catch most of those regrettable emails.

And now you can do just that. Turn on Undo Send in Gmail Labs under Settings, and you’ll see a new “Undo” link on every sent mail confirmation. Click “Undo,” and Gmail will grab the message before it’s sent and take you right back to compose.

This feature can’t pull back an email that’s already gone; it just holds your message for five seconds so you have a chance to hit the panic button. And don’t worry – if you close Gmail or your browser crashes in those few seconds, we’ll still send your message.

Most Time Spent on the Internet Award

by teamgpt February 10, 2020
written by teamgpt

Ever wondered where most people spend time on the internet? No, it’s not Google this time, it’s actually a social network and YES it is Facebook.

Although the data seems to be an exaggeration, the phrase “time on the Internet” for many means getting on Facebook.com. A study shows that every American spends 421 minutes in the largest social network of the world against the 121 employees at Yahoo!, 95 in Windows Live and 84 on Google.

The Nielsen survey from January 2010 shows that the trends are showing rising support towards social media. Since June 2009 the US internet usage time has increased from 4hours 39minutes to 9hours and 3 minutes per\day.

Statistical data on U.S. websites, January 2010.

Comparing with common services such as Google (1 minute 22 seconds), Yahoo (2:09), YouTube (1:02), Microsoft / Bing (1:35) or Wikipedia (0:15) and Amazon (0 : 22), Facebook stands out on its own, in a unique way!

written by teamgpt

Plaxo on Wednesday announced its partnership with SimplyHired, which offers to show job listings according to your work profile information.

What are social job listings?
When you post a job to Plaxo, you have the option of sharing it to any or all of your Plaxo network. For example, you might choose to share the listing to your business connections and to one or two groups that you’re a member of. Or you might share it to your friends and your business network. Or for that matter, you might also share it with your family, if you have family members who might be able to help source candidates! and of course, your can share it via email with anyone, whether they’re a Plaxo member or not.

On Plaxo, the listing is then like any other shared event in the Plaxo stream, which means you and the people who receive it can comment on it, and anyone who receives it can re-share it to their networks!
Here’s a quick snap of how it works:

alexa logo

That’s the question every new blogger thinks about. If you ask me why Alexa Rankings? its simply because of the Money and Search Engine listings.

* Advertisers who want to advertise on your site look at Alexa ranking before bidding for the CPC rate Ads. Lower the ranking, more advertisers would flock to advertise on your site.

* Thinking about search engine listing, if your blog has a <200k ranking on Alexa, then there are chances of the articles\posts showing on the 3-4th pages of search engines. However, if your blog ranks <50k on Alexa the chances of content getting shared on search engines would have a +90% chance in the search listing :)…

graphs

Alexa Rank is a ranking or position analysis system made to know the number or visitors on the blog. Sites are Ranked \ positioned depending on the number of visits the site receives.
