Before, inserting images in Gmail was not so simple. The Gmail experiment Inserting images is now easier, with the new feature.
After activation of the settings to insert images button, opens a dialog where you can either upload an image an from the computer or with a URL.
To get this working for you, enable the feature called “Inserting images”. Now you can add pics either by uploading, or by referencing an image URL, though neither approach will guarantee that your image will be shown in email clients on the receiving end… for instance, Gmail protects recipients from URL-referencing images, and Hotmail protects even from embedded images.
