As it was announced earlier this month the final version of Microsoft‘s antivirus package Microsoft Security Essentials is now available. The package is available in English, Dutch and also includes 18 other languages; soon we can see this in more languages. Microsoft security essentials can be installed on Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or 3, Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 or 2 (32 and 64 bit) and Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit). However, this only works on original versions of Microsoft operating systems.
Microsoft Security Essentials, previously known as Morro is the successor of Windows Live OneCare, a security paid package. Since June 23 there was an official beta version of the package, a different version already leaked out five days before. Users of this trial are of course advised to upgrade to the new version.
Compared with the beta version there is not much to see changes. After running the installation package on the background and protected against viruses, spyware and other malicious software. Bottom in the system tray there is a little icon that you can access Security Essentials. The launch window is the ability to quickly, or completely adapt to scan. Also, you can download the whole package up-to-date.
Microsoft Security Essentials is lightweight, easy to use and it keeps itself auto-updated as well. After downloading the installer (less than 10 MB), it takes less than 2 minutes and it will immediately start protecting your computer from virus attacks. When Security Essentials is scanning your computer for problems, you can still work as normal as the software has been designed to use a limited amount of system resources if a user is using the computer while a scan is in progress background.
