The world’s largest software maker Microsoft has launched the much-awaited ‘Windows 7’ operating system (OS) with a host of tools for multimedia applications for business and retail customers.
After the failure of its earlier operating system ‘Vista’, Windows 7 promises significant improvement in productivity levels, enhanced security, reduced risk and manageability costs.
The six editions launched are: Windows 7 Home Premium (for home consumers), Windows 7 Professional (for small and medium businesses), Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic (for emerging markets), Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 7 Ultimate.
For the US users, If you’re interested in making the switch, the price is $319 for Windows 7 Ultimate, and $299 for the Professional version ($219 and $199 for the upgrade, respectively). Windows 7 Home Premium will set you back $199, and an upgrade from either Vista or XP will cost you $119.
